High Speed Amphibian

Gibbs Military Amphibians

Gibbs Military Amphibians, is developing military High Speed Amphibian (HAS) vehicle based on the knowhow and technologies developed by Gibbs Technologies. The company obtained over 70 patented technologies applicable for fast amphibious vehicles of different shapes and sizes ranging from 800lbs to 10 tons. Gibbs anticipates a growing demand for such vehicles, to be used as recon vehicles, troop carriers, cargo, light strike applications, ATV's, riverine patrols and more. (more...)

The military vehicles operation is run under a joint venture with Lockheed Martin. Other Gibbs activities are aimed at the domestic US market and export (Europe).

The company currently plans to introduce three high-speed amphibians in the United States during the next three years, including an all-terrain-type vehicle, a sporty car and a larger sport-utility vehicle. An all-terrain vehicle will be manufactured and sold by Gibbs Sports Amphibians.

Reasons for Recommendation:

This amphibian vehicle is not a dream – it is real. According to Gibbs, their first amphibious All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), the Aquada was developed at a cost of more than $100 million. A fleet of 10 Aquadas is currently undergoing tests in the United States. These vehicles combine the handling of a sports car, with an ability to travel at speeds of up to 40 mph on water and in excess of 100 mph on land. For the military, these vehicles will not merely introduce more recreational thrills, but could greatly benefit Marines and Special Forces, by dramatically reducing the sea-to-shore transition time.
