Eurosatory 2012 Preview

Eurosatory 2006 will undoubtedly be the most important global gathering of land and land-air defense equipment manufacturers in 2006.

Defense Update coverage of Eurosatory 2006, for the first time, includes a preview of some exhibits, primarily systems and new products brought to Eurosatory by Israeli companies. Our post show review will include a broader coverage of companies from all countries (check the 2004 review for example). We also invite all exhibitors to send their announcements and products preview for consideration for publication prior and during the show.

Among the new systems to be reviewed will be the new Peace Support Operations (PSO) version of the Leopard 2 tank, to be unveiled at the show.

The current preview includes:

Armored combat vehicles, systems and technologies, (to include new active protection systems, from RAFAEL and IMI (picture below), threat detection and warning systems, advanced armor protection, counter IED systems and technologies, new developments of wheeled armored vehicles, new types of ammunition, including KE anti-tank, multi-purpose HE-MP and a new 120mm version of the anti-material, Anti-personnel round which is scheduled to enter operational service soon. Other highlights include new optronics, and battle management systems for AFVs.

Fire support and deep strike capabilities will cover autonomous artillery systems, MLRS improvements, advanced munitions, and surface attack missiles capable of hitting point targets from ranges beyond 250 kilometers. (Info will be coming soon...)

Intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and command and control (C4ISR) will be discussed in details, with status reports about all major programs on display. Additional coverage will be provided on new intelligence processing systems, and new net centric initiatives, from battlefield management systems, communications equipment to satellite imaging, EW countermeasures etc.

Unmanned systems will include, for the first time, coverage of ground and aerial systems, as well as remotely controlled sensors and weapon stations.
