Appointments:
Saab CEO and President,
Åke Svensson was nominated as President
of the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association
of Europe (ASD). He will remain in this position
throughout 2008. Over 2000 European companies from 20
countries are included in the association, with approximately
638,000 employees and a combined turnover of approximately

Raanan I. Horowitz
has been appointed as President and CEO of Elbit
Systems of America (ESA), Horowitz is also a
member of ESA’s Board of Directors. Mr. Horowitz
replaces Joseph A. Parini, who was serving
as ESA’s interim President and CEO.

Mr.
Parini will continue in his role as Chairman of the Board of
Directors of ESA. Horowitz joined Elbit Systems
in 1989 and was nominated as the Executive Vice President and
General Manager of EFW Inc. (EFW), an Elbit Systems of America
subsidiary.
Wally Massenburg has been
appointed by BAE Systems as vice president
of readiness and sustainment for Electronics & Integrated
Solutions (E&IS). Massenburg, a retired US Navy
vice admiral will be responsible for developing the model and
functionality to sustain systems used by U.S. and allied military
forces through their total life cycle. Most recently Massenburg
was the commander of the Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent
River, Maryland and chief operating officer of the Naval Aviation
Enterprise, a
cross-functional team of aviation stakeholders charged with
achieving readiness at reduced cost.
Northrop Grumman announced
this week two new appointments: Gorik Hossepian
has been appointed vice president for navigation and
positioning systems, with responsibility for space
systems and high-value platforms, military navigation-grade
and tactical-grade inertial systems, commercial aviation systems
and fiber-optic gyro products and conventional gyro products.
Ike
Song has been named vice president for situational
awareness systems at Northrop Grumman,
with responsibility for integrated avionics systems, cockpit
displays and underwater fiber-optic sensors.
At the Boeing Company, Scott
Fancher was named Missile Defense Systems Vice
President and General Manager. Fancher replaced Patrick
Shanahan, who has assumed responsibility for the 787
Dreamliner program in Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

Goodrich Corporation
(NYSE:GR) has promoted Tom Bergeron
to the post of President, ISR Systems,
reporting to Jerry Witowski, Segment
President, Electronic Systems. He replaces
Ken Luczaj, who will retire at the end
of the year. |
Bergeron served six years as Vice President and General Manager
of the Surveillance and Reconnaissance team within the ISR Systems
business. Prior to joining Goodrich, he developed his expertise
in surveillance, reconnaissance and imaging systems, holding
technical, managerial and business positions at Raytheon,
Hughes Electronics, Litton Industries
and General Dynamics.
Science Applications International
Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE:SAI) appointed Senior Vice
President Tony Moraco has as general
manager of SAIC's Space and Geospatial Intelligence Business
Unit. He succeeds K. Stuart Shea who
was promoted to president of SAIC's Intelligence, Security and
Technology Group, which includes the business unit. Moraco joined
SAIC in 2006. Previously he held executive positions in companies
serving the intelligence community, homeland security and defense
markets including Autometric Inc., Boeing's
Space & Intelligence Systems Mission Systems and Boeing
Integrated Defense Advanced Systems (Phantom Works)
Jack L. Kerrebrock, Professor
Emeritus of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT), has joined the company as its
Principal Engineer for Propulsion at Aurora
Flight Sciences, to be based at the company's Cambridge
R&D Center. He will lead the analysis, design, and testing
of UAV propulsion systems ranging from small vertical takeoff
and landing (VTOL) designs to high altitude systems and non-air-breathing
propulsion systems designed to operate in planetary atmospheres.
Rear Admiral Robert E. Cowley III
(USN Ret.) has been hired as vice president of the
Defense industry business unit of SAP. Cowley
will help drive SAP’s strategic software solutions into
defense organizations around the world.

P. Uyeno has joined Ionatron, Inc.
(NASDQA: IOTN) as Vice President of Engineering.
Uyeno was formerly employed with TRW
and Raytheon, where he was Technical
Director for the Advanced Targeting FLIR (ATFLIR) Pod
program. According to Dana Marshall, President and CEO
of Ionatron, Inc., "[Uyeno] will be of immense value
to Ionatron as we move our proprietary products toward
deployment.” |

At Thales Communications,
Cesar A. (Tony) Urenda joined the tactical
communications team as business development manager.
His primary responsibility will be as the liaison with the U.S.
Special Operations forces.
Further promotions were announced at Saab,
where Mats Warstedt is nominated for the newly
created position as Director of Marketing,
responsible for Saab International and Saab Industrial Cooperation.
Jonas Hjelm currently working at Saab corporate
strategy and business development, will assume responsibility
for Government Relations.
