US Air Force Role in Millennium Challenge 2002

Among the various exercises conducted within MC02 is the Army Transformation Experiment conducted at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin Ca., the US Air Force Joint Expeditionary Experiment  (JFEX02). It is testing the Global Strike Task Force, with the model of a future command and control systems and technologies to improve the prosecution of time-sensitive targets. JEFX02 will combine live, virtual and simulated forces, and will take place at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

During the initial phase of MC02 operations, which began on July 24, 2002, the Air Force's most advanced aircraft, including F-22s, B-2s, and joint standoff weapons are employed to achieve the air dominance that enable further attacks by conventional (non stealth) aircraft, as well as and support aircraft, to help with neutralizing enemy threats and prepare the area for the ground assault.
