Airshow-News at Aero-India 2009

In February, India's largest bi-annual Aero India Airshow will take place in Yelahanka Air Force base near Bangalore in Southern India. Reflecting the rapid growth of India's aerospace sector, the seventh Aero India has established itself as one of Asia's premier airshows. After India opened up the defense sector to foreign direct investment, opportunities have come to the civil aviation sector.

Also, with India going for modernization of its armed forces, investment in defense has increased. Aero India 2009 is expected to be the largest Aero India event, hosting 530 exhibitors – 230 from India and 300 from 17 countries,. The largest national pavilions include Russia, US, Israel, UK, France, Germany and Italy. Other participating countries include Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, Sweden and Ukraine. Defense Update is launching the 'AIRSHOW LIVE' service dispatched daily from the show, providing up to date coverage by email and web, in a unique design optimized for PDA and smartphones such as Blackberry and Iphones. The event will also be an attractive opportunity for aerospace enthusiasts, with over 100 demonstrated in flight displays and in static displays along the flight line. Special attractions planned on site include the display of vintage aircraft and modern space technology, at the space pavilion. Aero India is organized by the ministry of defence and managed by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Aero India will be open for professional visitors on the four business days (February 11-14). On business days the show will be open to military and civil aerospace professionals, delegations from foreign defense establishments, Ministry of Defence, Army, Navy and Air Force, Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Indian Space Research Organization etc. The airshow will be open to the general public on the weekend (February 14-15).
