Elisra to Become Wholly Owned Subsidiary of Elbit Systems

Elbit continues the consolidation of its domestic acquisitions. Following the successful completion of buyout of the remaining ITL Lasers shares held by the public, traded on the Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange, Elbit Systems announed today the procurement of  30% of the remaining shares of Elisra Electronics Systems, held by IAI subsidiary Elta Systems. With this acquisition Elbit Systems will 100% holding of Elisra shares. For these stocks Elbit will pay Elta $67.5 million. (Read More...)

Multi-Band SAR Supports Task-Force ODIN in Iraq in C-IED Operations

Northrop Grumman Corporation’s software-defined Multi-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar (MB SAR), recently provided counter-improvised explosive device (IED) support assisting the drawdown of U.S. combat troops in Iraq. The radar was deployed aboard a U.S. Navy NP-3D Orion aircraft, which performed missions as a part of Task Force Observe, Detect, Identify and Neutralize (ODIN). (Read More...)

Marine Corps Proceed with Common, Aviation C2 System Demonstration

ThalesRaytheonSystems, a joint venture between U.S. based Raytheon and the European Thales group has been selected by the U.S. Marine Corps to demonstrate a Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S) under the program’s phase II, $5 million segment. According to Kim Kerry, chief executive officer, ThalesRaytheonSystems, U.S. Operations, the system to be demonstrated to the Corps will be a low-risk, scalable and affordable. The company will deliver the proposed CAC2S system in approximately eight months to be evaluated by the Marines at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Controp MeosControp Optimizes Stabilized EO Systems for Mast Mounted Vehicular Applications

At Aero-India 2011 Controp is introducing two new stabilized EO systems, optimized for vehicular platforms. The new, remotely controlled, gyro-stabilized Modular Electro-Optical System (MEOS). The system employs an open architecture similar to Controp’s CEDAR product line, yet MEOS also features a two-axis gyro-stabilized platform, enabling installation on vehicular platforms, as well as elevated mast mounting. RADA INSRADA Expands Avionics Portfolio with Inertial Navigation Systems (INS)

Israel’s avionics company Rada Electronic Industries has expanded into new areas in recent years, including mission systems integration, inertial navigation systems (INS), aircraft and UAV avionics and advanced radars. The growing portfolio has already generated significant increase in sales, with turnover in the first nine months of 2010 increased 58% over 2009, attributed to the large scale integration projects the company won in Latin America. Zvi Alon, RADA’s CEO expects the momentum to continue “We hope the Inertial Navigation and radar product lines will become major growth drivers for our company in the future” Alon said. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has developed a new, lightweight and compact laser rangefinder/designator designed for small electro-optical systems and payloads used for Ground, Airborne and Naval applications. The system called DART 45 is displayed at Aero-India for the first time. According to IAI, several units of the new system, have already been integrated into MiniPOP-D (Designator) Electro-Optical naval payloads for an export customer, as well as into IAI/TAMAM’s new Ground Targeting and Designating System (GTADS). U.S. Navy Selects Integrators to Evaluate Four Competitive Cyber-Warfare Concepts

Four system integrators were selected by the U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems (SPAWAR) to develop cyberspace operations systems for the U.S. Navy, supporting the tactical, operational and strategic levels. The four include General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, (GD-AIS) Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. and Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc. At its preliminary phase, the program addresses architecture assessment, examination, and demonstration, assessing operations requirements and analysis, concept formulation and development, feasibility demonstrations and operational support.
