General Atomics Joins CAE to Offer Predator B UAS to Canada
Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) specialist General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA‑ASI) announced yesterday a teaming agreement with one of Canada’s leading defense companies CAE, to offer the Predator B UAS to Canada. GA-ASI and CAE will jointly compete for this program, with GA-ASI serving as the prime contractor supporting a U.S. Foreign Military Sale (FMS) procurement. (Read More...)

Metal Storm Introduces a Non-Lethal / Lethal Weapon System Based
Metal Storm has introduced today the ‘Fury’, a new member of the ‘FireStorm’ weapon system family. Defined by the company as a ‘High Intensity Multi-Barrel Weapon Systems’ Fury is designed as a modular scalable system, mounting up to 30 barrels. Each barrel is loaded with up to 6 rounds, delivering a maximum burst fire-rates of up to 20,000 rounds per minute with 40mm grenades. (Read More...)

Northrop Grumman Unveils the FireBird Optionally Piloted Aircraft
Northrop Grumman has officially introduced its latest optionally unmanned aircraft, the Firebird. The new aircraft is positioned to deliver multi-intelligence products to military users on the ground, providing real-time high-definition full-motion video (FMV), electro-optical infrared (EOIR) and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery, monitor communications signals (COMINT). Phantom Ray – Boeing’s Unmanned Fighter is Finally Flying
Boeing made Phantom Ray unmanned airborne system (UAS) successfully completed its first flight April 27 at NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. Since being delivered to the base in December 2010, the flight demonstrator, based on the company’s Phantom Works’ X-45C, originally developed for the DARPA/USAF Unmanned Combat Aircraft System (UCAS) program. Months before the first flight the unmanned plane went through extensive pre-flight testing, culminating in a series of high-speed taxi tests performed in March. (Read More...)

iRobot Introduces a New Mini-Robot
iRobot has unveiled pre-production prototypes of its latest new product, the iRobot 110 FirstLook unmanned ground vehicle (UGV). This small, light and throwable robot provides hasty situational awareness, performs persistent observation and investigates confined spaces. “FirstLook is going to be a very important tool for warfighters and first responders,” said Robert Moses, president of iRobot’s Government and Industrial Robots division. IAI Unveils Hovering Aerial and Ground Observation Vehicles at LAAD 2011
Israel Aerospace Industries is unveiling an all-terrain, ground observation vehicle designed for paramilitary, border security and countering drug trafficking and smuggling. Other highlights at IAI are unmanned systems such as the Medium Altitude Long Endurance Heron TP, which could augment the Heron already operated by the Brazilian internal security police forces. Industry Team Finalizes AGS Negotiation, Anticipates Order Award in July 2011
Northrop Grumman Corporation submitted its final proposal for the NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance (AGS) core capability. NATO AGS system will employ an air segment consisting of six Northrop Grumman Block 40 Global Hawks specially missionized to provide persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance to ground, maritime and air commanders, anytime and anywhere in the world.
