In 2006 the British Army deployed the first Mastiff armored
vehicels to enhance troop protection in Iraq. The British
MoD announced in October 2007 plans for the acquisition of
additional 140 vehicles, to be delivered from the US Manufacturer
Force Protection Inc. Mastiff is based on FPI's Cougar armored
vehicle, enhanced with all-round slat armor and passive protection
added to the sides, augmenting its protection against the
more lethal threats encountered in the Iraqi theater.
