SIC Terre program will introduce higher
levels of automated information exchange, improving networking through
all level of command, and enhance interoperability within national,
multinational and NATO operations. The system will provide the
transition platform supporting the migration of 14 French Army's and
national legacy systems into future information systems. The system
will provide common operating modules, secured IP based communications
and common display infrastructure shared through all levels of
command. These modules will support the future generation of
SICF (Système d'Information et de Commandement of
the Forces )– the French strategic command, control and
information system. The new architecture is expected to further extend
to improve the future Naval information system used by the French
Navy. In January 2005 the French defense procurement agency (DGA)
awarded Thales a €230 million contract for the SIC Terre of program,
developing an information and communication system for the French
Army. Thales subcontracted EADS DCS 30% of the contract. |
